Wild in Winter: Intentionality with Palmarosa

The cold days of winter make our ocean swims colder. Our coffee seems hotter and our skin drier. The Wendy Christina Premium Skincare team loves chilly weather! To be wild in winter, we turn to the beautifully scented essential oil, Palmarosa. This is the season of bundling up, warm drinks, fireplaces and welcomed cuddles with loved ones. The late sunrises of winter inspire us to intentionally start our days in the first morning rays.

Awakenings of the body in the form of cold ocean swims, surfs, beach walks, grounding yoga or hitting the ski slopes all accompany our early morning reflections of the mind. So we encourage you, our lovely customers, to take advantage of these colder mornings and late sunrises. Wendy Christina Skincare is the nourishment for your skin. Mornings started off with gratitude, hope, and rejuvenation are the nourishment of our soul. We hope you enjoy the season.

Intentionality with Palmarosa

So why Palmarosa? During cold days, our skin needs protection from everyday elements. While we love winter, the cold air and lack of humidity often dries out skin leaving it dull and dehydrated. The chill in temperatures causes our natural occurring sebum levels to decrease. Sebum – in correct balance – protects our skin and locks moisture in. Without the nourishment it needs, skin is open to irritants and may become itchy due to dryness. Skin often develops minor bacterial infections due to the loss of protective layer and weakness in the skin barrier. Common problems from poorly nourished skin in winter include: itchy dry skin, cracked lips, exacerbation of pre-existing inflammatory skin diseases such as rosacea, psoriasis, and eczema.

Proper care is a necessity for mature or dry skin, especially during winter. This is why our highlighted essential oil ingredient of the week is Palmarosa.

Wild in Winter with Palmarosa

Palmarosa (also known as Rose Geranium) comes from a grass species native to India. The properties of Palmarosa include antiseptic, bactericide, digestive, hydrating and anti-fungal. When our skin is vulnerable in winter, using Palmarosa is the ideal tonic to protect against harmful microorganisms. This killer essential oil stimulates the regeneration of cells resulting in stronger skin on the cellular level and increased healing of scars and infections. The perfect ingredient for going wild in winter, Palmarosa is also hydrating to the skin and balances the levels of sebum.

Palmarosa is ideal for all skincare types, particularly problematic and sensitive skin. It aids conditions such as acne, dermatitis, minor skin infections, malnourished and dry skin. Our recommended winter products containing Palmarosa are:
